(Once Upon a Date) December 31, 1999 : New Year’s Eve 2000

The year ends with a lesson in courage, when the worst storm in living memory inflicts heavy damage on the area on December 26. Surrounded by trees, Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch is partially destroyed and remains closed indefinitely. The main marquee housing the “Crescend‘O” show in Disney Village flies off, as does the housing over Buzz Lightyear’s Pizza Planet Restaurant.

Jeff Archambault explains: “The storm that devastated some part of France on December 26, 1999, severely damaged our destination, notably Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch where our Cast was mobilized to help and comfort all the residents. The Park was touched, too, just a few days before the Millennium. Everything was set up for the upcoming party and, in the morning, we realized that everything was down. So, we did our best, working day and night, to ensure guests’ safety and put everything back into place. It is thanks to the incredible involvement of our operational teams that the – slightly modified – party could happen in the best possible conditions.”

For the first time in Disneyland Paris history, the park remains closed all day, on December 27. Cast Members then give their all over the following days and nights, working together to ensure that the Millennium celebrations are unforgettable for the 45 000 guests expected for the festivities!

Nothing could spoil the party, the premiere of Disney Imaginations parade was nevertheless played on December 31, this is the end of a Millennium both uplifting and exhilarating!
